359 - Christmas

I love spending holidays with my family. There is always loads of great food and lots of laughter. I'm very lucky to have such a wonderful people in my life.

We spent Christmas with my mom's side in MS. My cousin and her husband bought a fixer upper of a house and wanted to show off all their hard work. The place was beautiful.

Mawmaw sneaking a bit of turkey before dinner.

This little guy stole the show.

Mawmaw and Clayton sharing dinner. I swear his tongue spends more time outside of his head than in.

So much wonderful food!

It's been an extremely rough year for Mawmaw. I cannot express how good it was to see her smiling and surrounded by family.

See! The tongue is out again.

Mom opening her present

I didn't get a picture of it, but my mom and stepdad got us the coolest present. They bought a big metal buschel tub and filled it with all kinds of wonderful farm themed stuff like gardening books, a humming bird feeder, a bird house, and a gift card to Tractor Supply Company.

Nanny and Clayton wrestling. I think he's winning.

TeeCee just wants to go home.

358 - First day

After cuddling up in front of the fire on a leaky inflatable mattress we woke to our first day as farmers. The first thing we saw when we walked out the back door was this pair of giant birds circling the property.

The pups found a bit of tubing and took advantage of the giant backyard to start a game of fetch and tug.

We walked around the property and found a huge downed oak tree.

The sheltie girls thought it was a great place to look cute and have their photo taken.

357 - We bought the farm!!

We finally closed on the farm!! We were anxious to get out to our new home ASAP so we packed up the pups and the inflatable mattress and headed up to Hammond to spend the night at our new place.

We picked up a super fancy dinner of gas station fried chicken eaten off plastic plates with plastic spoons on our fancy dining room set.

Little did I know that Big Onion had a plan for the evening. Earlier in the day he caused a bit of a stir on Reddit with this post:

After dinner, I was working on getting a fire going while Big Onion went out back to play with the pups (or so I thought). After a few minutes, he called me to come outside with him. When I walked out, he had a rectangular wooden box in his hands and an anxious look on his face. He took what looked like a small wooden egg from the box and said something about starting things off on the right foot. He dropped to one knee, opened up the egg, and asked me to be his wife. Inside of the egg was a ring. THE ring. It was designed with the help of my best friend, casted by my dog-father, my grandmother gave him the stone, it was set by my uncle and the inside of the ring was engraved by my cousin to say "Lucky I'm in love with my best friend." (it takes a village!) To top it all off, he learned to carve so that he could MAKE the amazing egg shaped ring box.

Of course, I said yes! (Actually I think I said "Sure!" Close enough.)
And my goofy grin ended up on reddit:

Us in front of the fire, newly engaged, farm owners, and surrounded by puppies.
Couldn't be happier.

And of course there was champagne!

355 - Lumpy Lu

Last week I found a lump on Luna's chest. I had my vet take a look at it, and she recommended I have it removed asap. I made an appointment with the local reproductive specialist to do the surgery just in case it was something serious. If it was cancerous, he would have to remove the lump, any surrounding breast material, and spay her at the same time. I dropped my Luna girl off at the clinic first thing in the morning. A couple of hours later, I got a call from the surgeon saying that he was almost certain the lump was benign.

He removed the lump and a little of the surrounding tissue and gave it to me to send off for testing just to be certain everything was normal.

354 - Outside ducks

Time for the ducklings to go outside. 13 ducklings is just WAY too much poop to keep inside. They are a bit young for the cooler weather so we put them in a small xpen with a tarp wrapped around it to keep out the breezes and an old kitty pool on top to keep out the rain. Nice and cozy.

351 - Office Xmas Party

Testin out my camera setting on the Big Onion.
There is no good explanation for the face he is making though.

 My coworker and her man.

My boss' husband doing his annual collection of holiday parodies with a local/political bend.

Music was provided once again by this lovely lady whose name I never can seem to get.
